4Continue to Enjoy Dawn of War II with Retribution

AS noted in another review, the campaign is short, but you can play it with 6 races. The "Last Stand" mode is not for novices. You should be familiar with the DoW "Last Stand" scenarios and have some virtual "combat" time under your belt with other DoW series games before playing (not required, but it is a steep learning curve for those without experience). If you want tips for Last Stand, use "Steam News" and it notes best heros with specific equipment that have been successful.

Don't bother using Amazon's downloader for this game. Tried for a whole day to download 8GB... left it overnight and the download continues to get interrupted. Finally, was so frustrated, I logged on to "Steam" and used the game validation code (from Amazon) - it finished the entire download in an hour. Amazon has to do better with their downloader. Hope these notes are helpful.

    5Fun fun fun

If you are a Dawn of War 2 fan this is a must have. The new map for "Last Stand" is very challenging. The campaign is too short but you can play through it with all six races. Oh and the new Imperial Guard units are a blast (pun intended).

    4Great Multiplayer overshadows uninspired campaigns
    By Yuhuan Xie
If you're looking for a single player/co-op game, you should probably look elsewhere or wait for Heart of the Swarm. Dawn of War is kind of like Age of Empires in that the 'campaign' is generally more of a formality and the multiplayer is a blast. However, Dawn of War II original and to a lesser extent Chaos Rising have fun, long story driven campaigns. Retribution has a campaign for each of 6 races but the missions are all literally the same. Not worth 30$ for this.

However, the multiplayer is really fun once you get the hang of it. The steam group L2PDow@ (learn to play dawn of war 2) is a good resource to learn quickly. If you've played Dow1 or CoH you'll be alright. If you haven't, well, this game is a real time tactics game (no base building, units are upgraded individually, they can level up) that is centered around capturing points on the map king of the hill style. Also, the races all play very different and so re-playability/variance is very high (unlike World in Conflict). Definitely worth 30$ if you can get into it.

Of course if you are a Warhammer40k fan, this is worth it.

Also, while this game is a stand alone, playing online, all races for which you do not own the games in which they came out for will be disabled. So if you want to play as Eldar/Ork/Space Marine/Tyranid you have to buy original and if you want to play Chaos you need Chaos Rising. However, if you do not own Retribution, you can't play with everyone else who owns Retribution since the previous 2 Dawn of War 2 games were on Games for Windows Live and Retribution Multiplayer is on Steam (only about 15-20% of playerbase hasn't migrated over, will probably go down massively once RT goes on sale).
